Day 01:      Drive from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa

  • Overnight in Hotel

Day 02:     Drive to Tansen

  • Morning visit Lumbini, the birth place of the Buddha
  • Observation of the Himalayan Frontal Trhust,  Tertiary foreland Siwalik sedimentary rocks, Main Boundary Trhust, Tansen Group (Gondwana and Post-Gondwanas) of Lesser Himalaya
  • Overnight in Tansen

Day 03:    Drive to Pokhara

  • Observation of Precambrian  strata of the Lesser Himalaya including Stromatolites
  • Half day sightseeing of Pokhara Valley
  • Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 04:    Drive to Galeswor & Trek to Tatopani

  • Observation of the MCT zone, inverted metamorphic zonation, River terrace of the Kaligandaki River
  • Hot spring bathe
  • Night in a lodge

Day 05:   Trek to Ghasa

  • Observation of the Main Central Thrust and Higher Himalayan Proterozoic rocks
  • Night in a lodge

Day 06:  Trek to Marpha

  • Observation of the South Tibetan Detachment System (STDS) and lower part of the Tethys Himalaya (Lower Paleozoic rocks)
  • Overnight in lodge

Day 07:   Trek to Kagbeni

  • Observation of the Tethys Himalaya, Ammonite and other pelycypod fossil hunting, observation of the Thakkhola Graben Sediments
  • Explore the gateway to Mustang
  • Overnight in lodge

Day 08:    Trek to Muktinath and back to Jomsom

  • Observation of the upper part of the Tethys Himalaya

Day 09:    Fly back to Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu

NOTE: the schedule is flexible and can be changed according to your need. We have also options to drive from Butwal to Muktinath and back to Kathmandu.
